The ASUS MX279H 27″ monitor has a new design with an almost invisible edge. It is extra flat and the edges are very thin (8mm only).
The base of the screen is composed of aluminium metal that enhances the standing of the monitor. The finishing is impeccable with its aluminium frame and its solid supporting leg has a rounded shape and is made out of ringed aluminium too. In the product package, is a black box emblazoned with a logo that closely resembles the foot of the monitor. In addition to the power cables, the shipped package includes an HDMI cable, a cable for connecting the speakers and a VGA cable. It also contains a Quick Start Guide and a CD with drivers.

The LCD panel of this monitor is of the advanced variety of IPS, referred to as AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching). This AH-IPS technology confers on it improves image brightness, wider viewing angles and brighter colors.
The foot of the monitor is easy to attach to the monitor and joined together with a screw. A two centimeter-wide silver colored strip on its underside contains the controls. The buttons allow you to set different options or activate different modes (games, movies, etc.). The buttons are tactile and very sensitive. The touch buttons are also convenient to use, except in the dark, when they might appear to be indistinguishable from each other. There is a gap of about 1 cm between the end of the housing and the displayed image.

The ASUS MX279H monitor’s sound system was developed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen SonicMaster technology, which gives it a crystal clear surround sound. Despite its ultra-slim design, the ASUS monitor has two discrete speakers. The MX279H incorporates Bang & Olufsen ICEpower speakers very efficiently into its architecture, providing a very powerful, realistic sound with decent bass.
There is no limit to the multimedia enjoyment that can be derived from owning this monitor.
While it is an established fact that IPS screens generally encounter homogeneity problems, this is not at all the case with this monitor. The ASUS MX279H offers a wide viewing angle which is wider than that of the average of IPS panels. IPS technology allows it to offer a wide viewing angle of 178 °, which provides unaltered image quality, regardless of where the user is located within the room. All colours are rendered faithfully and grey shades are well displayed.
This monitor supports Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and has two HDMI input ports located on the rear panel, to allow for it to be connected to many other multimedia devices like a TV, Blu-Ray players, game consoles, digital cameras or any other compatible devices.
