See if your contacts are saved on Google Contacts

Before you proceed with restoring your contacts, let’s first check to see if they are in your Google Contacts. You can check and access your contacts by:

1. Logging into Gmail (gmail.com)
2. At the top right of your screen, next to your profile icon are 9 dots, click on that to access the Google Apps menu.
3. Click on the icon that says Contacts.
4. On this page, you will see the full list of contacts.

To directly log into your Google Contacts, you can go to contacts.google.com and just enter your gmail email address and password.

Importing Your Contacts from Google to iPhone

Now that you know your contacts exist, it is time to load them on to your phone. To do that, simply follow all of the steps below.

1. On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> Add Account.
2. Select Gmail to add your Google Account.
3. Sign-in with your Gmail email and password.
4. After your Gmail account has been added, go back to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> Gmail
5. On the Gmail screen, click on the toggle button next to Contacts. The button should be green.

Now that you have successfully connected your iPhone to your Gmail account, and switched on Contacts in the settings menu, your contacts should start instantly importing and syncing to your iPhone device. As long as your Gmail account is connected to your phone, your phone contacts will always be saved in your Google Account.

Adding Gmail Account to iPhone

1. On your home screen, click on “Settings”.
2. Scroll through the menu, then click on the icon called “Mail”.
3. At the top, click on “Accounts”.
4. Click on “Add Account”.
5. Click on the Google logo.
6. When prompted to enter your email address and password, do so. Then click next.
7. You will be taken to the gmail settings page, choose if you want to sync your contacts, calendars, and notes (all optional).
8. When you are finished, click Save.
9. Head back to the home screen, then click on the “Mail” icon.
10. Click on your Gmail account to see your mail.

Alternative Methods:

Another way you can access your Gmail account on your phone is by going to the App Store. Once you are their, you can search for Gmail, and download the App. This way you can keep your Mail app separated from your Gmail account(s).

If you would like to access your Gmail without using any apps, open up the Safari browser, then head to Gmail.com. Bookmark this page by adding a shortcut to your Home Screen. This way you have instant access to your emails via the Safari browser.

Blocking an email address from your Desktop Computer

Step 1

Open any email message from the person/company you want to block.

Step 2

Locate the reply button (arrow), right next to it are three dots, click on that to open a menu.

Step 3

Within that menu, locate the word Block and click on it. A popup message will show asking you to confirm blocking the email address. Click on the “Block” button to proceed.

Blocking a email address from your Mobile Phone

Step 1

In your gmail app or web browser view, open any email message from the person/company you want to block.

Step 2

Locate the reply button (arrow), right next to it are three dots, click on that to open a menu.

Step 3

Within that menu, locate the word Block and click on it. A confirmation message will show that you have successfully blocked that email address.

How to unblock a email address in Gmail

Step 1

Viewing from the desktop, towards the top right of the browser window, located right underneath your Gmail profile photo is the settings button (Cog Wheel icon). Click on that to open up the settings menu.

Step 2

Head over to the Filters and Block Addresses tab.

Step 3

Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the sentence that says “The following email addresses are blocked…”. Select the email addresses you wish to unblock, then click on the “Unblock selected addresses.
